Dan Cogan-Drew

Dan brings twenty-plus years of professional experience spent working towards a more perfect union of teaching, learning and technology. Prior to Newsela, Dan was the founding Director of Digital Learning at Achievement First Public Charter Schools, where he spearheaded the integration of digital learning technologies across the network. He began his education career in Teach for America and went on to teach in public and private schools, as well as in the US Navy. He holds degrees from Wesleyan University, Brown University, and Tufts University.

Dr. Jacobs’s models on curriculum mapping and curriculum design have been featured in her eleven books and are the basis for software solutions used throughout the world. She is the author of thirteen books and has worked with a range of organizations both international and national, state and provincial education departments, professional organizations such as ASCD, NAESP, Learning Forward, the European Council of International Schools, and others. She is currently working with Newsela on its curriculum collection.
Nicole Allard
Interim Executive Director of Innovation & Educational Excellence, Vista Unified School District
Nicole Allard was most recently the principal of Mission Vista High School, a nationally recognized demonstration magnet school. Nicole has 22 years of experience in education, with 14 in high school administration. She sees the role of the principal as a change agent, transforming traditional school environments and empowering teachers to reimagine instruction. Nicole believes that personalizing learning engages students in discovering their strengths, interests, and values that will better prepare them for an increasingly complex world of work.
