Ellen has trained teachers how to use Newsela for more than two years. Prior to that she taught 5th grade writing in New York City and Phoenix, Arizona, the latter while earning a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the Mary Lou Fulton Teacher's College at Arizona State University. She's used Newsela in a variety of classroom capacities, from direct instruction to guided reading to curriculum building, and is passionate about its practicality for educational equity and inclusivity.
