Turnaround for Children’s Founder & Senior Science Advisor

Pamela Cantor, M.D. practiced child and adolescent psychiatry for nearly two decades, specializing in trauma. She founded Turnaround for Children in 2002, after co-authoring a study on the impact of the 9/11 attacks on NYC schoolchildren. Today, Turnaround translates scientific knowledge about how children develop and learn into integrated tools, resources and services for educators, school leaders, and school systems to establish the conditions and practices that drive learning and growth, so that all students thrive.

Dan Cogan-Drew

Co-founder and Chief Academic Officer, Newsela

Dan brings twenty-plus years of professional experience spent working towards a more perfect union of teaching, learning and technology. Prior to Newsela, Dan was the founding Director of Digital Learning at Achievement First Public Charter Schools, where he spearheaded the integration of digital learning technologies across the network. He began his education career in Teach for America and went on to teach in public and private schools, as well as in the US Navy. He holds degrees from Wesleyan University, Brown University, and Tufts University.
