Dan Cogan-Drew

Co-Founder and Chief Academic Officer, Newsela

Dan brings twenty-plus years of professional experience spent working towards a more perfect union of teaching, learning and technology. Prior to Newsela, Dan was the founding Director of Digital Learning at Achievement First Public Charter Schools, where he spearheaded the integration of digital learning technologies across the network. He began his education career in Teach for America and went on to teach in public and private schools, as well as in the US Navy. He holds degrees from Wesleyan University, Brown University, and Tufts University.

Fenesha Hubbard

Professional Learning Designer

Fenesha Hubbard joined NWEA in 2012. A former middle school math teacher, instructional coach, workshop facilitator, trainer, and consultant, she’s passionate about creating authentic learning experiences and helping others grow. She’s currently a content designer on the Professional Learning Design team at NWEA. Fenesha holds a BS in math from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MEd in instructional leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Rani Goyal

Director of Teaching and Learning, Santa Rosa City Schools, CA

Dr. Rani Goyal joined Santa Rosa City Schools as a Director in the Teaching and Learning department in Nov. 2017. She enjoys serving the community in a variety of roles as a Director and has a passion for supporting the collective efficacy of teachers and schools to support student learning. Prior to joining SRCS, she served as a high school principal in four different school districts between the years 2004 - 2017. The schools she served ranged in size and focus from a comprehensive high school of 2500 students with over 250 staff members to a charter school that enrolled 200 students with 18 staff members. Before becoming an administrator, Dr. Goyal taught history for eight years in middle and high school.

Tim Zalunardo

Director of Teaching and Learning, Santa Rosa City Schools, CA

Tim Zalunardo is a Director of Teaching and Learning K-12 for Santa Rosa City Schools (SRCS) in Sonoma County California. Tim is a first generation college graduate who has worked in SRCS since 2001, supporting students in multiple different roles from classroom teacher to high school principal. In his current work, Tim strives to support students across the district with a particular emphasis on equity initiatives, close collaboration with school site administrative teams, and a focus on the disciplines of English Language Arts and the Social Sciences.
