Director of Curricular Solutions, Newsela

Walt joined Newsela in 2017 to oversee Newsela’s expansion into Custom Curricular Services for Newsela’s largest customers. In 2018 he launched the Curricular Solutions department at Newsela and has grown it to a 20-person team. Under his leadership, Newsela’s solution architects work with curriculum leaders to realize their instructional vision and have created over 450 custom curricular content collections for upwards of 100 districts across 24 states. Walt formerly taught in elementary classrooms as a corps member in Teach For America. He graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BA in Public Policy and a Masters in Education from George Mason University.
